Hello to my praying and supporting friends,
The
summer has been extremely busy for me. I finished two yearsof teaching
English and studying counseling at Harvest Bible College in Iowa in
May; then I spent two weeks with my sister during the end of her
pregnancy and the arrival of baby 8. During this time, my brother-in-law
was with my nephew who was recuperating from heart surgery in Boston.
I
left Iowa on June with my friend Gail, and we traveled to England where
she spent two weeks seeing what I do with my aunt and her church. We
passed out tracts in various areas of England and Scotland, went to
ukelele and knitting outreach groups, participated in the church
services of Southshore Baptist Church, and helped my aunt with several
tasks around the home.
Gail
returned to Iowa, and I traveled to Macedonia. Where I met with Hallie,
one of the Harvest students who wanted to join me on a trip. There I
helped Jason Mann and his wife as they did outreach around the city
placing thousands of tracts in mailboxes, passing out tracts in the city
center, and witnessing to people as I had opportunity. There are two
people groups in Macedonia: Albanians who are Muslim and Macedonians who
are Eastern Orthodox. The religion and cultureis so closely related
that the people do not separate the two and think that someone trying to
present a different teaching is trying to change their culture. I was
able to give the Gospel to several taxi drivers, a few Muslim teen girls
and boys, and some of the people that the Manns had already been
talking to. For two weeks, we hade a family of 4 and two other people
helping with tract distribution and outreach. twon order to present the
Gospel to Macedonians, you must first build relationships. Game nights,
Bible studies, and English classes as well as coffee meetups are some of
the ways we met people and gained opportunities to present the Gospel. I
did not personally lead anyone to Christ, but 2 Muslim boys did trust
Christ, and several other people are asking questions and attending
Bible studies.
I returned
to England and helped the Solt family with their holiday Bible club or
VBS. I had two girls from my class of 7-12 year olds trust Christ. The
Solt's church also took me on for support which is an answer to prayer.
As
soon as the week was over, I took a bus from England to Poland to be
with the Sock family. When I was about 3 hours from Warsaw, I got the
message that my nephew, Joel who had heart surgery had passed away. I
arrived in Poland and spent two days working on getting a flight back to
Iowa for the funeral. I was able to be in church the Sunday I arrived
in Poland where I met a man who had traveled with Bro. Andrew the
European Bible smuggler.
I
arrived back in Iowa on Tuesday August 11, and attended Joel's funeral
on Friday August 14. I returned to Poland to finish my time there until
November when I will fly to Tanzania for three weeks to teach English
for Jerry and Rachel Wyatt 3rd.
